BRISBANE BARBELL CLUB
Whether you’re an aspiring competition weightlifter looking to make your mark on the sport of weightlifting, or simply an amateur athlete interested in building a solid base of strength, the Queensland Weightlifting Association (QWA) certified Brisbane Barbell Club is the place for you.
Led by Damon Kelly, Australia’s most successful weightlifter of the last 30 years, and Jesse Williams, Ex-Professional athlete and a high-performance coach, the Brisbane Barbell Club includes 10 weightlifting platforms, each with it's own set of competition plates and Klokov barbells.
All memberships include unlimited access to weightlifting club facilities, supervised coaching sessions, open gym sessions and athletes will be given ongoing programs according to their skill, proficiency & development.
OPEN GYM SCHEDULE
SUPERVISED COACHING HOURS
Monday + Wednesday: 5 - 7pm
Saturday: 8 - 10am
Each new member must complete an introduction session ($55) with one of our coaches.
Saturday 10 - 11am
For new lifters this session is critical for learning the fundamental movements and setting you on the right path to gaining the technical proficiency in the sport of Olympic Weightlifting.
For experienced lifters this session will be used to assess your technique, strengths and weaknesses and develop your personal program.
Upon completion of the session, each athlete will receive a program that has been prepared by our expert coaches to maximize each person’s development.

Damon is a superheavyweight weightlifter who competed for Australia at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympic Games. Damon has also won a silver medal at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, a gold medal at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth games and setting a Commonwealth Games clean and jerk record (221kg) in the process and a bronze medal at the Glasgow Commonwelath Games. Damo is currently building up to the 2018 Gold Coast Games.
