How to get the most out of your TORIAN membership!

1. Be consistent.

More than anything else, consistency is the key to long term success. It is much better to “under train” consistently than “over train” inconsistently. Aim to get to the gym 4-5 days per week and you’ll be surprised what’s possible in time.

2. Focus on quality movement.

Fall in love with learning how to move your body well. This will lead to greater performance in the long run and keep you safe and injury free in the meantime.

3. Eat well.

So often people will train themselves to a standstill, however they fail to see the results they’re looking for. More often than not poor eating habits are the culprit. Don’t waste all your efforts in the gym by failing to fuel your body properly.

4. Get to know your training partners.

One of the best things about a CrossFit box is the group dynamic and having people to train with every day. Building friendships in the box will get you out of bed on the days you really don’t feel like coming to the gym.

5. Ask lots of questions.

CrossFit coaches are extremely passionate about what they do. Usually once you get them started, the hard part is getting them to stop! They are here to guide you, give you feed back, motivate, and inspire you. Don’t be afraid to go up and ask them a question. The more you do the faster you’ll learn.

6. Don’t be afraid to scale.

It’s human nature to want to step up to the challenge. However if you bite off more than you can chew you will actually hinder your progress. By going too heavy or performing complex movement you’ve not yet had the time to learn, you will miss the intended stimulus of the workout. Over scaling can lead to injury, a sense of failure, disappointment, and a general lack of enjoyment.

7. Practice.

Become excited about leaning new skills. Great satisfaction can come from learning new movements and performing them well. As little as 10 minutes a day can be enough to see improvement when learning a new skill. Ask your coaches what you can do to get better, they can give you simple low intensity drills to work on outside class times.

8. Don’t be so hard on yourself!

Be patient and set realistic goals. People tend to overestimate what’s possible in the short term, while underestimating what’s possible in the long term. Be consistent and enjoy the process. The results will take care of themselves.

9. Get outside.

All your hard work in the gym is supposed to prepare you for life outside the box. This is at the core of the CrossFit methodology. Use your fitness to enjoy time with family and friends. Run, swim, bike, climb, whatever you can imagine. There’s a big beautiful world out there waiting to be challenged.

10. Have fun!

Training should not be a chore. Rather it should be seen as a chance to play. The human body is a gift capable of incredible things, and every chance to use it and make it stronger should be celebrated.
